Each January, the Graduate School of Medicine will focus on raising awareness of Health Disparities. By increasing regional and national focus on health equity represents an opportunity for change in health care delivery. The GSM identified a gap in the resident, fellow, and faculty perception of their exposure and training related to health disparities. January 2022 began the inaugural initiative to increase knowledge and awareness of the difference in health outcomes between demographic groups in East Tennessee. With new knowledge learners can concentrate on ways to focus on goals for change and a move towards health equity.
