Amanda Wilson, MBA, Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration for the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine (UTGSM) has been named a nominee for the prestigious 2025 UT President's Awards, the highest honor a University of Tennessee employee can receive. Wilson was selected as the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's (UTHSC) nominee in the Excel in All We Do category, which recognizes individuals whose unwavering pursuit of excellence drives transformative results across their institution. Wilson's nomination marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first-ever nominee from the UTGSM to be recognized at the UT System level for this prestigious award.
Celebrated for her innovation, integrity, and deep commitment to organizational success, Wilson has been instrumental in advancing the administrative and financial operations of UTGSM. Her work has had a lasting impact not only on the structure and efficiency of institutional processes but also on the people and culture she supports each day.
"In addition to her absolute mastery in leading the Faculty and Staff Affairs division of our campus for over a decade, Amanda stepped into "very big shoes" last year with the retirement of our campus Dean of Administration and Finance, who had been in that role for 25 years," said Robert M. Craft, MD, UTGSM Dean. "While the administration part of that job was a relatively easy fit, Amanda had a significant body of financial knowledge to obtain in a hand-off period of only a few months. On top of that learning period, the campus was also in a steep growth phase and the groundwork was being laid for a new UT System enterprise management system. To sum up the outcome of that very challenging period of multiple transitions, Amanda and our campus never missed a beat."
Wilson's recognition underscores the vital role that skilled, strategic leadership plays in sustaining the University of Tennessee's mission of advancing education, research, and outreach. Her nomination places her among a select group of faculty and staff system-wide whose exceptional service continues to inspire excellence across all UT campuses.
"It's an honor to be nominated for the UT President's Awards," said Amanda Wilson. "I'm grateful to work alongside a team that leads with compassion, upholds integrity, and is united by a shared commitment to making a meaningful impact every day."
