New UTGSM Faculty Spotlight

Ryan Schmocker, MD, joined the Department of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology as Assistant Professor. He brings new expertise in minimally invasive and robotic approaches to complex abdominal surgery. Dr. Schmocker will specialize in pancreatic and hepatobiliary malignancies. Dr. Schmocker recently completed his Complex Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins and graduated from the General Surgery Residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Priya Raghavan, MD, joined the Department of Family Medicine as Instructor. She is currently an Academic Fellow at the University of Tennessee specializing in adult learning and research. She will participate in the launch of the inaugural UTGSM Academic Leadership Academy. Dr. Raghavan received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and recently completed residency at Medstar Franklin Square in Baltimore, Maryland. Her professional interests include academic medicine and pediatric obesity.
