Faculty Development Seminar Series 2024-2025

Faculty of UTGSM have a track record of producing solid clinicians upon graduation from their programs.  We are now introducing a formal, campus-wide, comprehensive, coordinated curriculum for continued improvement of faculty academic skills.  The course series will consist of a monthly, two hour CME course.

All faculty within the UTGSM are welcome.  This series is an excellent way for faculty to meet the faculty development requirements.  Faculty can attend any of the lectures that they feel would benefit them.  The curriculum is divided into three main topics:  Teaching and precepting, research and publications, and academic career advancement.  Each of these main topics is divided into specific educational program plans.

Series Goals

The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine and the University of Tennessee Medical Center has the goal of increasing national and international recognition as a first-class academic medical institution.  This coordinated and comprehensive faculty development curriculum can help faculty members gain the needed tools to help them participate as major players in reaching this goal. 

At the conclusion of this annual series, the participants should be able to:

Faculty who complete all 12 modules within an academic year will receive up to 24 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit hours.

Allied Health Professionals: Professional associations may choose to convert the hours earned to contact hours. Please contact your certifying board to ensure these credit hours will be accepted.

Disclosures

The focus of this accredited education is non-clinical. The topics include attaining new skills in leadership, teaching, communication, and scholarly research. Therefore, disclosures from speakers and planners are not required.
