Who should attend?

This course is designed for physicians practicing in primary care, emergency medicine and internal medicine.  Physician assistants, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, nurses and allied healthcare professionals are also welcome to attend.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and the University of Tennessee Medical Center Heart, Lung, Vascular Institute.  The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.


Education Credits

AMA: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ACPEACPE:The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  Successful completion of this application-based program will provide a statement for ten (10) live contact hours credit (1.0 CEUs) and will be mailed within 3 weeks following the program.  Successful completion includes attending the session, signing the attendance sheet, and completion of the program evaluation form. CE credit will also be submitted to the NABP CE Monitor.

Please Note: Pharmacists must attend all sessions on both Friday and Saturday to receive CE credit.  There is no partial credit issued to pharmacists.

Grievance Policy
A participant, sponsor, faculty member or other individual wanting to file a grievance with respect to any aspect of a program sponsored or co-sponsored by the UTCOP may contact the Associate Dean for Continuing Education in writing. The grievance will be reviewed and a response will be returned within 45 days of receiving the written statement.  If not satisfied, an appeal to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy can be made for a second level of review. 

PAs, NPs and Nurses: The American Academy of Physician’s Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.  Nurses and nurse practitioners certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Association (ANCC) may use this credit toward certification renewal. This credit is acceptable by nurse practitioners certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). 

Allied Health Professionals: Professional associations may choose to convert the hours earned to contact hours.  Please contact your certifying board to ensure these credit hours will be accepted.
