Course Overview

This course will expose dental auxiliary and staff to roles and responsibilities of the forensic dentist and forensic anthropologist in the medico-legal system. Instruction and hands-on training, dental age assessment, and human abuse recognition.

The anthropologist analyzes decomposed and skeletal remains in the context of the clandestine grave and how results are reported to the forensic pathologist. An understanding of these unique crime scenes and how the anthropologist and death investigator deliver the dentition to the dentist is crucial. Participants will also receive hands-on training involving archaeological discovery and excavation methods of skeletal and dental remains at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine Decomposition Facility

We encourage you to be comfortable as we spend two days at this quality education experience. Business casual attire and a light sweater or jacket are suggested.
