Event Honors Memory of Researcher Al Ichiki
Samaritan Ministry hosted the third annual FaithWalk & Al Ichiki 5k in commemoration of World AIDS Day on December 6 in Downtown Knoxville. The event brought together members of the community, regardless of individual beliefs or church affiliation, to raise awareness and take a stand against the stigmas associated with HIV. The event added the 5K in 2014 in memory of Dr. Al Ichiki, a renowned UT Graduate School of Medicine researcher who pioneered HIV testing in the community and supported the early growth of Samaritan Ministry.
James Chen, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Medical Genetics, passed away in November. He served UT from 1976-2003. A memorial was held November 22. View his obituary.
