December 10 Literary Rounds Features Sam Venable

Sam Venable Literary RoundsSlow down, take a break, and enjoy a few laughs this holiday season with one of Knoxville’s treasures - Knoxville News Sentinel columnist, Sam Venable. On Wednesday, December 10 from 5 to 6 p.m.,Venable will be the featured speaker at Literary Rounds: Where Medicine Mingles with the Muse. Venable’s theme for the evening is Christmas Memories.

The event will be held in the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Heart Hospital Conference Room, located in the lobby just inside the medical center’s fountain circle entrance. The program is free and open to the public. Parking passes are available. Light refreshments will be served.

In conjunction with the event, and in celebration of the season, a Toys for Tots donation is being hosted.

Sam Venable has written for the Knoxville News Sentinel since 1970, first as outdoors editor and since 1985 as a columnist who specializes in humor. Venable is a native of Knoxville. He is a 1969 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in journalism and minor studies in forestry and wildlife management. Prior to joining the News Sentinel’s staff, he worked as a police reporter and feature writer for the Knoxville Journal and the Chattanooga News Free Press. Venable is the author of 12 books, and he has been the recipient of numerous writing awards. In 2009, he was inducted in to the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame.
