Rajiv Dhand, MD, Chair and Professor of Medicine, and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine, has been named section editor of the Respiratory Medicine section of Advances in Therapy. This international, peer-reviewed journal is devoted to publication of high-quality studies in clinical medicine, including research on drugs currently used in practice and those in active development.
Dr. Dhand is an internationally recognized expert in the delivery of inhaled medications, especially delivery of aerosolized therapies in critical care patients. He led the team of researchers who established the scientific basis for the use of metered-dose inhalers in mechanically-ventilated patients. He is currently president of the International Society of Aerosols in Medicine (ISAM) and editor-in-chief of the ISAM Textbook of Aerosol Medicine. He is also on the editorial boards of the Journal of Aerosol Medicine and Pulmonary Drug Delivery, Respiratory Care, and the International Journal of COPD.
