Services for Subscribers
The Preston Medical Library offers annual library subscriptions to individuals at a cost of $100.00. To apply, please complete the Subscriber Registration Form .
Benefits to subscribers include
Ask a Librarian - Email reference service.
Borrowing - Ability to check out up to three items at a time.
Computer Resources - The Preston Medical Library's computer workstations have Internet connections and the capability to access the library's electronic resources. The library also provides wireless access to the Internet using your own PDA or personal computer.
Consumer & Patient Health Information Services
Copy Service - Subscribers may make photocopies of library materials. Three self-service printer/copiers are located in the library, and copies cost five cents per page. Self-service photocopies may be paid for with cash, check, or billed to an account.
If library staff provides the subscriber with an electronic or paper copy of an article, the subscriber will be billed the amount of the article’s copyright fee.
Additional service fees may apply to copies of materials provided from our print collection.
Information Search and Reference - We can provide answers to specific questions using print and electronic sources. Contact us via phone (305-9525), email or use our literature search request form.
Interlibrary Loan - Journal articles that are not owned or are missing from the Preston Medical Library's collection may be ordered from other libraries. Copies can be delivered via email. Service fees apply including, but not limited to, copyright fees.
Librarian-Mediated Database Searches - The professional library staff is trained in searching the National Library of Medicine's PubMed and other NLM databases. Fees applicable. Request a search
Monthly Billing
Training Classes - Preston Medical Library offers training classes in a variety of topics. There is no charge to attend.
