Medical Simulation Center
Surgical Skills
Section
Residents are able to
practice a variety of skills including
intracorporeal and extracorporeal knot tying, simple suturing, dissection,
and camera navigation. Aside from these specific skills they can
also spend time with several "games" that improve the
visual and tactile coordination skills required to master laparoscopic
procedures.
Additionally specific suture models
have been made available to both medical students and residents
as requested, including bowel anastomosis and vascular anastomosis.
Medical students are now able to use the Simulation Center lab space
to practice their required core surgery rotation skills such as
IV insertions and Foley catheter placement.
July
Roark, CST is the new coordinator and skills coach for the simulation
center. For more information about the Medical Simulation Center
