Urology Residency Program
Urology Resident Benefits
Urology residents at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine
are provided with all the educational tools needed to excel. Funds
are available for textbook purchase, conferences, research, and
operating Lupes.
An extensive urology library
is at the disposal of the residents. Residents are provided with
a copy of the latest Campbell's Urology Textbook. In addition, residents
are provided copies of one or more Urology Surgical atlases/textbooks,
SASP CD-ROMs, GU Radiology teaching files, and GU Pathology slide
sets. Further, Pediatric Urology and alternative comprehensive textbooks
are available (i.e. Gillenwater and Grayhack's Adult and Pediatric
Urology textbook).
Online and hard copies
of past issues of the Journal of Urology and Urology are available
at all times. Subscriptions to additional journals are also available
depending on resident interest.
The University of Tennessee
Graduate School of Medicine boasts a comprehensive and newly remodeled Preston
Medical Library. Professional Librarians are available for literature searches,
acquisition of articles via InterLibrary Loan, and computer education
courses.
Each resident will have
access to his or her own computer and will be provided with a handheld
PDA. A digital camera is owned by the Division and available for
appropriate use.
Residents are allowed
to attend one conference a year with prior approval. Funds are available
for travel to any conference at which research is being presented.
In addition, residents will be allowed to attend the annual AUA
Basic Science Review Conference in Charlottesville, VA. Additional
educational conferences are allowed at the discretion of the program
director.
Surgical Lupes are purcheased
by the Division for its residents early in the second year.
Research funds are available
via the Division as well as through industry supported avenues.
