Office of Medical Education, Research, and Development (OMERAD)
The Office of Medical Education, Research and Development is a central resource and consultant center for promoting excellence and innovation in research and medical education. OMERAD, under the direction of the Dean’s Office, operates as an internal consulting resource to the faculty, fellows, and residents of the Graduate School of Medicine.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote excellence in education and research by providing faculty, fellows, and residents of the UT Graduate School of Medicine with clinically relevant and innovative consultation services tailored to their individual needs.
Overview of Consulting Services
Our faculty and staff provide both one-on-one consultations and workshops in the following areas:
- research design
- research proposal preparation
- designing measurable research questions
- sample size (power) calculations
- literature searching and abstraction
- assembling an Institutional Review Board application
- database design and data retrieval
- data collection planning
- survey research methods
- questionnaire/instrument development and validation
- basic and advanced quantitative (statistical) analysis
- basic qualitative analysis
- abstract preparation and submission
- manuscript preparation, submission, and resubmissions
- oral and poster presentation design
- preparation for Journal Club presentations
