Medicine Gives Freeman Rawson Award

The Freeman Rawson award, given in memory of long-time Medicine faculty member Freeman Rawson, MD, was presented on June 20 to Jennifer Headrick, MD, third-year resident, and to Laura Sullivan, MD, and Michael Carringer, MD, second-year residents. This award is given annually to upper-level residents who embody the spirit of teaching and possess excellent clinical skills.

Dr. Rawson, who passed away in 2003, was a founding member of the Knoxville Cardiovascular Group and practiced medicine in Knoxville for 47 years. Dr. Rawson was known for his compassion and clinical skills.
