Laura Maples Earns CME Certification and Joins Academic CME Society
Laura Maples, Director of Continuing Education and Professional Development, recently earned the designation Certified CME Professional (CCMEP) from the National Commission for Certification of CME Professionals. The CCMEP is the only credential that designates qualified individuals as certified CME professionals. The NC-CME, established in 2006, began offering the certifying examination in 2008 and has since certified approximately 350 professionals. CCMEPs must demonstrate continued competence by passing a monitored exam every five years and maintaining a record of continued professional development activities.
Also, Maples was recently accepted to the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education. SACME, established in 1976, promotes research, scholarship, evaluation and development of continuing medical education and continuing professional development that helps to enhance the performance of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
