Dr. Lisa Duncan Announced as Chair of Pathology

UTGSM Dr. Lisa DuncanJames Neutens, PhD, Dean, announced recently that Lisa D. Duncan, MD, has been appointed as Chair of Pathology. Dr. Duncan's appointment comes after a national search and strong recommendation by the search committee. She is alumnus of the Department's Residency Program and Cytopathology Fellowship Program as well as serving as the Residency Program Director since 2009.

Dr. Duncan began her new role on January 1. Both Joe Landsman, President and CEO, University Health System, and Dr. Neutens believe she will do an exceptional job given her leadership skills, past experience, and foresight in medicine. The former Chair, Dr. Stuart Van Meter, established a strong foundation from which she can advance the academic and clinical missions of the department.

Dr. Duncan holds the rank of Associate Professor and is board certified in Cytopathology as well as in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She will continue in her role as Residency Program Director.

Dr. Duncan has also served the University of Tennessee Medical Center through her clinical roles as Chief of Staff (2010) and Chair of the Credentials Committee (2011).
