OB/GYN Faculty from the UT Graduate School of Medicine Serve as Oral Board Examiners

Four members of the faculty of Obstetrics and Gynecology recently represented their department as examiners for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Dallas, Tx. Nationally, graduating residents complete oral examinations to become board certified practicing physicians. The faculty who serve as examiners are considered national experts in their field.

Paul J. Hauptman, MD, Dean of the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine said, "Having four faculty members identified as leaders in their field from any department is commendable and speaks very highly of the quality of physicians we have teaching our OBGYN residents."

The Chairman of the Department, Larry Kilgore, MD, has served as an examiner for 14 years including in his sub-specialty of Gyn Oncology; after the recent round of exams, he has decided to step down from that role. Current faculty serving as board examiners are Kimberly Fortner, MD, Associate Professor and Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine; Kristopher Kimball, MD, Associate Professor and Associate Residency Program Director; and Nikki Zite, MD, Professor and Residency Program Director.
