Medical Students Promote Compassionate Care

Medical students in the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) participated in the 4th Annual National Solidarity Day for Compassionate Patient Care on Valentine's Day. Solidarity Day was initiated by the national Gold Foundation and Honor Society after the tragic shootings in Tucson, Arizona, involving Congresswoman Gabriel Gifford in January 2011.  February 14 was the day selected to annually honor this day and the importance of compassionate and humanistic patient care. 

For the 2014 celebration, thank you cards and Solidarity buttons from the UT GHHS Chapter were presented to nursing stations at UT-affiliated hospitals acknowledging nurses for all they do to provide quality compassionate care to their patients.
