Dr. James Lewis Initiates Melanoma Symposium

James Lewis, MD, Assistant Professor, Surgery's Division of Surgical Oncology, initiated the Melanoma Educational Fellowship Symposium to bring together integrated medical professionals to discuss melanoma cancer therapies. Emceed by Lori Tucker, WATE 6 News, featured speakers were Igor Puzanov, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of Phase I Program, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, discussing "Melanoma Therapy 2013," and Dr. Lewis discussing "Isolated Limb Infusion in the Treatment of Melanoma/Soft Tissue Malignancy of the Extremity."

Dr. Lewis said the educational program was designed to bring together interdisciplinary melanoma experts in the community to discuss cases and treatments. He hopes to continue the symposium as a semi-annual event. Dr. Lewis also plans to develop a cutaneous malignancy service line that will streamline the care and follow-up of patients with skin cancer.
