Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Family Medicine is to serve the people of East Tennessee by selecting and educating competent, caring physicians to provide optimal, affordable health care for all members of the family.
The department and its faculty are dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive, quality health care to the people of East Tennessee. Family physicians are the specialists educated to meet the health care needs of the entire family. Family medicine physicians are the doctors who “Specialize in YOU. ”
Who We Are
The Department of Family Medicine consists of more than 50 healthcare professionals, including 15 community physicians, 20 academic medical faculty, 24 resident physicians, and five fellows. In addition to family medicine, which includes the delivery of pediatric and obstetrical care, the department provides specialty care in geriatrics, sports medicine, behavioral medicine, and occupational medicine.
