Anatomy.tv is an online anatomy tool. This database is billed as "The World's Most Detailed 3D Model of Human Anatomy Online." The model can be rotated, and different layers of the body can be examined. Make sure to turn your pop up blockers off when using this resource.

BioMed
Central is an independent publishing house committed to providing
immediate free access to peer-reviewed biomedical research. All
the original research articles in journals
published by BioMed Central are immediately and permanently
available online without charge or any other barriers to access.
This commitment is based on the view that open
access to research is central to rapid and efficient progress
in science and that subscription-based access to research is hindering
rather than helping scientific communication.
ChemIDplus
is a free, web-based search system that provides access to structure
and nomenclature authority files used for the identification of
chemical substances cited in National Library of Medicine (NLM)
databases, including the TOXNET® system. ChemIDplus also provides
structure searching. The database contains over 379,000 chemical
records and is searchable by Name, Synonym, CAS Registry Number,
Molecular Formula, Classification Code, Locator Code, and Structure.
Cochrane
Library
"The Cochrane Library is an electronic publication designed
to supply high quality evidence to inform people providing and receiving
care, and those responsible for research, teaching, funding and
administration at all levels." Read more about the Cochrane
Library. The Preston Medical Library has a site license for
access from any UTGSM or Medical Center computer. (The library is
registered with IP Addresses). YOU DO NOT NEED A USERNAME &
PASSWORD.
Wiley is the new publisher of this database, and therefore the interface
has a new look. A demo
provides useful information about the new interface.
The Dietary Supplements Labels Database
The National Library of Medicine has released a new resource focused on dietary supplements. The database includes information from the labels of over 2,000 brands of dietary supplements in the marketplace, including vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and other specialty supplements.
DynaMed DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. The Dynamed Brochure explains this resource in a little more detail.

eMedicine
eMedicine now offers
full text access to 7,000 chapters and 25,000 images and is now free online.

with full text and images! This database is part of the Tennessee
Electronic Library.
FREIDA Online Search from AMA
The American Medical Association's Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database, is an online database for fellowship and residency information. This free database features detailed information on over 8,200 graduate medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, as well as over 200 combined specialty programs. Nationwide in scope, it allows searching by geographical area, specialty, as well as program size and other criteria.

as well as the latest in management, health care, economics and
politics. Access to a combination of broker research reports, trade
publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings
with full text and images available. This database
is part of the Tennessee Electronic Library.
Patents. Google has introduced Google
Patent Search which searches the United States Patent and Trademark
Office (USPTO) patent database. Patents issued in the United States
are public domain government information, and images of the entire
database of U.S. patents are readily available online via the USPTO
website.
Google
Scholar™ is a subset of Google™.
It covers a portion of the scholarly literature. Coverage appears to be strongest
in science and technology. Google Scholar™ indexes articles,
reports, books and other documents. The amount of access to the full-text
of your results will vary.Google Scholar™ does not list what
journals or publishers it covers, so it is impossible to know exactly
what is being searched.There are several major publishers that are
not currently included in Google Scholar™. Also, since Google™
has not released exactly which publishers are included, it is impossible
to know how comprehensive the results are.

Security Digital Library (HSDL)
With funding from the Department of Homeland Security's Office
for Domestic Preparedness, the Naval Postgraduate School's Dudley
Knox Library has created this unique digital library. The HSDL provides
researchers, scholars and students with a gateway to a wide range
of resources on the broad subject of Homeland Security.

OneFile

KUDZU
Use KUDZU to simultaneously search the catalogs of the
University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, the University of
Kentucky and eleven Southeastern research libraries.
LactMed
- Drugs and Lactation Database
A peer-reviewed and fully referenced database of drugs to which
breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. Among the data included are
maternal and infant levels of drugs, possible effects on breastfed
infants and on lactation, and alternate drugs to consider.

(Ovid Interface) The Ovid MEDLINE database contains bibliographic
citations and author abstracts from more than 4,600 biomedical journals
published in the United States and in 70 other countries.
Micromedex
(Access Restrictions Apply)
Micromedex is a group of full text databases containing information
on drugs. Search for summaries and detailed monographs for drugs,
toxicological managements, reproductive risks and acute/emergency
care. This product is sponsored by the
UT Medical Center Department of Pharmacy and is available from
UT Medical Center computers only.

A collection of standard nursing texts with full-text.
PubMed
(MEDLINE)
PubMed is a service of the National Library of Medicine
that includes over 16 million citations from MEDLINE and other life
science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s, with
links to participating online journals. Available from any computer
with an Internet connection. The National Library of Medicine has
produced a brochure entitled PubMed
Basics to introduce you to the database.
SciFinder
Scholar is available on several computers in the library
thanks to the UT Health Science Center Library for expanding access
to include our campus. It also can be downloaded and installed to
office computers by any authorized user with a NetID. SciFinder
Scholar provides access to the CAplus database of chemical literature
and U.S. and foreign chemical-related patents, to CASREACT, to the
Registry database from Chemical Abstracts Service, and to Medline.
It includes journal articles, book chapters, patents, conference
proceedings, technical reports, substance database and dissertations
covered in Chemical Abstracts as well as articles currently being
indexed, book reviews and biographical information.
STAT!Ref
Electronic Reference Database
"STAT!Ref lets you cross-search more than 35 medical and
drug texts including popular texts from McGraw Hill, Mosby, Lippincott,
Williams & Wilkins and more. Full text results provide the most
relevant information every time." The license is for three
concurrent users.
Off-campus access requires that you register
with the library.

UpToDate is a subscription-based clinical information resource
available to physicians. UpToDate is designed to get physicians
the concise, practical answers they need when they need them the
most - at the point of care. It is available online from any UTGSM
or UT Medical Center computer. There is no off-campus access
at this time.
