After Hours Access Policy

After Hours Access to Preston Medical Library is limited to clinical personnel who need to access reference material for patient care purposes. The following categories are considered clinical personnel - Graduate School of Medicine Residents, Graduate School of Medicine students and faculty, UT College of Pharmacy P2 students, and UT Medical Center Physicians and Nurses.

All individuals granted after-hours access privileges are responsible for honoring the following guidelines:

  • Allowing access to individuals whose ID cards do not activate the security system is prohibited. (Do not prop open the door or otherwise facilitate unauthorized access)

  • Library computer equipment must not be removed from the library.
  • Journals (current & back issues) must not be removed from the library.

Self-checkout of books eligible for circulation must be completed before taking the material from the library (instructions located at reference desk).

Individuals who do not fall into one of the above categories - but who have a UT Medical Center issued ID badge and patient care - related need to access library resources after hours - can contact the Library Director, Sandy Oelschlegel (305-6615) and complete a brief form to apply for access.
