After Hours Access Policy

After-Hours Access to Preston Medical Library is limited to UTMC and GSM team members and students who require access to reference material for patient care and study purposes AND have a UTMC parking badge.
All individuals granted after-hours access privileges are responsible for honoring the following guidelines, in addition to regular library policies:

• Unauthorized access must not be facilitated. This includes allowing access to individuals whose ID cards do not activate the security system or leaving doors propped open for unauthorized persons
• Library computer equipment must not be removed from the library
• Journals (current issues) must not be removed from the library
• Self-checkout of books eligible for circulation must be completed before taking the material from the library

Self-Checkout of Books and Bound Journals (with barcodes):
When the library is closed and no library personnel are present:

• Simply photocopy the book’s barcode, located on the sticker that is attached to the front of the book, then make a copy of the reverse of your badge including the badge barcode. Place these two copies together on the library’s reference desk.

OR

• Snap a photo with your phone of the book’s barcode, located on the sticker that is attached to the front of the book, then snap a photo of the reverse of your badge including the badge barcode. Email these photos to library@utmck.edu.

Library premises are monitored by security cameras 24 hours daily.
