Beaming

An easy way to acquire new contacts for your address book and software is by beaming. This technology allows other Palm users to send you their business cards and software that is freely available.

Beaming utilizes the infrared area on your Palm. It's a small area, usually on the side or on top of the device. Infrared is the same technology that makes TV remote controls work.

In order to beam information, or have information beamed to you, line up infrared areas of your Palms. They don't have to be right next to each other, but it only works if they are within a few feet of each other. You'll be prompted to accept anything new, so you are not obligated to save anything beamed to you.

Find a friend with a Palm and practice beaming--it's fun!

Next we are going to review different types of Palm software and how to download it.
