Mobile Resources

Preston Medical Library provides access to databases that include mobile-friendly versions of their premium services. For easy instructions on accessing this content on your smart phone or other mobile device, just see our tutorial.

Library Subscriptions

PubMed for Handhelds
This site optimizes PubMed for viewing and searching on a mobile device. In addition, as with the Preston Medical Library's link to the desktop version, it will link to our resources.

CINAHL Plus with Full Text
(IPhone / IPod Touch only)
From the main page of CINAHL, request the mobile app by following the link to EBSCOhost IPhone / IPod Touch application, then inputting your email. The app and instructions will be emailed to you. After setting up the app, simply log in with the credentials below.
User ID: tenn / Password: medicine

Dynamed
The interface is web friendly for mobile devices plus there is a downloadable version that includes clinical calculators.
Contact us for the registration code and information on setting up Dynamed on your mobile device.

MDConsult
To use the mobile version, begin from your desktop and go to the desktop version of MDConsult. Click the "Create Account" link to create a personal account. After completing the registration, use he username and password that you created to log in to the mobile vesion of the database. More information about this product, including devices support is available here. You will need to create an individual account in order to log in.

Procedures Consult
To use the mobile version, from your desktop, go to the desktop version of Procedures Consult. Click the sign-in link at the far right, and click on the self-registration link in the pop up window. After completing the self-registration, use the username and password combination you select to log in to the Mobile site from your device.

Stat!Ref
Is optimized for mobile devices. Just log in as you normally do and most mobile devices will be automatically redirected to the mobile URL.

UpToDate
For on campus users (off campus access is not available), from your mobile device, you can simply use the link I've provided, or the one in Quicklinks. UpToDate will automatically redirect you to the mobile version of the site.

MedlinePlus Mobile
This is the mobile version of the National Library of Medicine's consumer health website.

Free Applications

Epocrates
(Palm, PocketPC, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch)
Offers free and subscription services.  The free version, Epocrates RX, provides drug information, interactions, calculations, and a visual pill identifier.

Mobile REMM
(iPhone, iPod Touch)
National Library of Medicine Radiation Emergency Medical Management - Guidance on Diagnosis & Treatment for Health Care Providers. Free iPhone App.

NLM Mobile
(Palm, PocketPC )
National Library of Medicine's resources available for PDA includes PubMed, NCBI Bookshelf, AIDSInfo, WISER.

Pepid
(iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry)
Offers free and subscription services. Free version has portable drug companion including interactions and dosing.

MedScape
(iPhone, iPod Touch)
A mobile application provided by WedMD and the online MedScape website. The mobile application offers drug reference information, interactions, CME credit opportunities, and medical news.

MedCalc
(iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry, Palm, PocketPC)
Completely free medical calculator with consistently high reviews provides access to formulas, equations, and classifications.

Eponyms Dictionary
(Palm, iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry, Pocket PC)
Great, completely free dictionary of over 1600 medical eponyms.

StatCoder
(iPhone, iPod Touch)
StatCoder develops unique clinical apps with emphasis on iPhone. Many are free downloads  like STAT Reynolds Risk Score, STAT Framingham Heart Age, STAT Asthma NHLBI Guidelines.
