Residency Program

Curricular Venues - Noon Conference

 

  1. Venue: Noon conference

  2. Location: GSM building, second floor, in the DOM conference room; on Wednesdays the Cardiology lecture is held in Morrisons conference room in the main hospital (Geriatrics is monthly and is also in Morrisons).

  3. Faculty: These daily lectures are the major didactic component of our 3-year IM curricula. With the exception of cardiology (they have 36 lectures), each IM division is responsible for an 18 lecture series covering all of their learning objectives. DOM faculty are responsible for giving up-to-date and interesting lectures. Other non-medicine specialties give specific lectures (i.e. opthamology).

  4. Schedule: Each day at noon, except weekends, and holidays. The night float and rural health residents cannot attend most lectures.

  5. Links to Curricular Area: This links to all the subspecialty curricula areas.

  6. Primary Goals: Noon conference is directed solely to IM resident education:
    • Teaching a broad range of IM topics needed to prepare residents for patient care
    • Lectures also cover system based practice topics, patient communication

  7. Resources: The DOM conference room can accommodate almost every teaching style needed. On-line patient x-ray tests, labs and other patient information can be projected.

  8. Method of Resident Evaluation: PGY 1, 2 and 3 resident’s are required to attend, but will not be evaluated formally based on this venue.

  9. Method of Venue Evaluation: Once per year, the resident’s will evaluate the overall program in general and specifically noon conference.
