Faculty: This
conference is hosted by Dr. Norm Walton with DOM faculty filling
in during his absence. Specialty IM faculty frequently attend.
Schedule: Each
morning at 8:00 AM , except Tuesday (Tuesday’s are for grand rounds,
quarterly staff meetings and board review sessions.)

Primary Goals:
Morning report is geared towards:
reinforcing home reading and the teaching done at
noon conference
learning how to present cases concisely, completely,
and accurately
reviewing differential diagnosis and immediate treatment
of most inpatient disorders
attendings can learn about new patients admitted
to their team overnight
Resources: The
DOM conference room can accommodate almost every teaching style
needed. On-line patient x-ray tests, labs and other patient information
can be projected. During this conference, the upper level resident
presents patients admitted the previous day to the other residents,
attendings and the faculty moderator.
Method of Resident
Evaluation: PGY 2 and 3 resident’s are required to attend, but
will not be evaluated formally based on this venue. The night
float resident will be formally evaluated based on ability to
present cases in a concise and knowledgeable manner.
Method of Venue
Evaluation: Once per year, the resident’s will evaluate the overall
program in general and this venue.
