Residency Program
Residency Program Evaluation
Resident Performance
All residents are evaluated on a monthly basis for each of their rotations based on the six core clinical competencies. We encourage face-to-face evaluations at the end of each rotation. We encourage 360 degree evaluations from peers, faculty, clinical staff and patients to help with performance improvement.
The Residency Review Committee (with representative faculty from all clinical rotations) meets quarterly to discuss individual resident performance and progress. A subcommittee, the Competency Committee, then reviews this information to make recommendations regarding promotion and any needs for assistance or remediation of residents. The Program Director meets with each resident at least twice a year to discuss overall progress.
All residents sit the In-Service Examination annually to help with self-assessment of medical knowledge.
Each resident can review their own evaluation file in the Program Office.
Tools for evaluation include:
Faculty Global Evaluations
Resident-on-resident (Peer) Evaluations
Mini Clinical Examination (Mini-CEX)
Chart Review
Nursing evaluations
Patient evaluations
Procedure Logs
Duty Hours Logs
Competency testing for EKG analysis is done as part of the
of the Cardiology lecture series.
