Mission
To teach residents and medical students the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to become competent, compassionate physicians who possess a lifetime love of medicine and learning. To provide an organization for the delivery of excellent medical care from both the generalists and specialists in the field of Internal Medicine. To provide an invigorating environment for basic and clinical research.
Patient Care Facilities
Inpatient services are located at the University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital on the campus of the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Please see the University of Tennessee Medical Center web site for more information on clinical services.
Outpatient services are provided at the Physicians Office Buildings on the UT Medical Center campus, University Medical Plaza in West Knoxville, and by two affiliated Internal Medicine groups in Knoxville.

The Department of Medicine clinical faculty consists of 79 specialists in internal medicine and medical subspecialties. All are active in educational roles. Represented are Internal Medicine, Allergy, Cardiology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Infectious diseases, Nephrology, Oncology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology. At UT, Psychiatry, Dermatology, and Neurology are in the Department of Medicine.
Research
faculty include the labs of Dr. Solomon, Dr. Townsend, and Dr. Wall.
