Schedule:
- Monday
– Friday, typically 8 AM until 5 PM
- The
resident is excused to attend their ambulatory clinic.
Goals
and Objectives:
This
rotation will augment the ambulatory experience by immersion in
a community private practice. The resident will see first hand how
this practice is integrated in the community, evaluate and make
initial treatment decisions for a diverse patient population and
learn the importance of excellent communication skills between primary
care providers and specialty consultants as well as insurers and
ancillary service providers. The resident will have the opportunity
to interact with office and billing managers, see how an office
laboratory operates and learn the basic operations of scheduling
patients and handling telephone calls appropriately. The resident
will be expected to present a professional appearance and demeanor.
The
resident will evaluate and initiate treatment for a wide variety
of problems which are commonly encountered in an ambulatory primary
care practice.
