Primary Care Sports Medicine Clinic

Embedded within the University Family Physicians Clinic, our Primary Care Sports Medicine providers are uniquely positioned to provide care for the whole patient and see your injury as part of you and your life goals. We work with athletes from the point of injury through the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation process. The Sports Medicine Clinic faculty have been physicians for Olympic, US Military, national, collegiate, and high school programs, but we believe that every person’s injury or illness deserves world-class care. We see athletes of all ages, from children with injuries of the growth plate, pre-teens with overuse issues, young adults striving for success in their sport, to older adults maintaining their fitness and joy of activity.

Our Sports Medicine Clinic physicians offer ultrasound guided soft tissue platelet rich plasma injections and needle fenestration as well as ultrasound guided joint injections of PRP, corticosteroids, and hyaluronic acid. However, our scope is not limited to injuries of tendons and joints. We strive to offer comprehensive care for the whole patient, and specialize in concussion care, cardiac and respiratory issues affecting activity and sport, bone density and stress injuries, and women’s health issues affecting performance.

We care for a broad range of issues, including:

Our sports medicine physicians have close relationships with specialists here at the UT Graduate School of Medicine and UT Medical Center. However, we work with many groups throughout Knoxville and the surrounding areas and will refer to the best physical therapists, occupational therapists, imaging locations, and ancillary treatment teams that meet your needs.
