Application Process

 

Fellows are selected through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The universal application can be obtained online through the NRMP or from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). Applicants must receive training in Family, Internal, Pediatric, or Emergency Medicine, as well as PM&R.


Deadline: Deadline for applications is October 1.

Applications are reviewed in October and interviews are scheduled on Fridays from October to December. Interviews are arranged through the Department of Family Medicine's coordinator, Khristy Harris.


Minimum requirements for application include:

  • Completed AMSSM application
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Medical school Dean’s letter
  • Copy of Medical School Diploma
  • Copy of USMLE/COMLEX exam scores
  • Copy of current state medical license
  • USMLE exam scores
  • In-training exam scores
  • Letter from Residency Program Director specifying anticipated graduated date

Special Note: Candidates are invited for interview based on their application, but predominantly on their personal statement. Please be thoughtful and mindful of this when creating your essay. Your personal statement can be creative and should be written in a way that tells us the most about you and your future career goals.
