M. David Stockton , MD , MPH
M. David Stockton , MD , MPH is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee . He received his undergraduate education graduating from the University of Tennessee -- Knoxville , with a BA Degree in Microbiology. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee -- Memphis , receiving his MD Degree in 1978 and completed residency training at the University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital and Research Center in 1981.
While in residency, Dr. Stockton practiced solo family medicine in Suwannee , Tennessee , including staffing the emergency department. In 1987 he returned to Knoxville as full-time faculty within the Department of Family Medicine and now holds the position of Associate Professor. He is Chief of the Division of Preventive Medicine and oversees the University Occupational Health in many local industries in the area.
Dr. Stockton also received his Bachelor's of Public Health Degree through the University of Tennessee--Knoxville and is currently is boarded by both the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine in the occupational medicine category. Dr. Stockton has traveled and participated in medical relief and mission work as well as academic exchange in countries in South America, Africa and Asia.
Recently he participated with the International Medical Corps in Emergency Disaster Relief following the tsunami in Indonesia . Dr. Stockton is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, and is particularly interested in preparation and training for emergency disaster relief.
