Maricarmen Malagon-Rogers, MD

Dr. Malagon-Rogers received her MD degree from the University of Rosario in Bogota, Columbia, and completed a fellowship in Nephrology in Paris, France. She returned to Bogota to do a residency in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital in Bogota, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Malagon-Rogers was an instructor in Pediatrics in Bogota for four years before becoming a full-time faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville in 1990. She has served as Director of the Pediatric Dialysis Unit since 1990 and Pediatric Transplant Nephrologist for UT Medical Center. She achieved certification as an expert in hypertension from the American Society of Hypertension in 2001.
In January 2002, Dr. Malagon-Rogers transferred to the Department of Family Medicine. Her professional interests include the well-being of children with kidney diseases and hypertension and teaching.
