Professional Interests: Primary care sports medicine including both musculoskeletal complaints, as well as non-musculoskeletal conditions such as concussions. Dr. Asif has also been trained in the most recent advances in musculoskeletal ultrasound and platelet rich plasma therapy. Dr. Asif conducts research in the prevention of sudden cardiac death in young athletes, which has been presented nationally and earned honors such as the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Best Overall Research Award, The AMSSM Harry Galanty Most Outstanding Young Investigator Award, and the AMSSM Resident Scholarship Award. Dr. Asif provides sports medicine coverage for local colleges, the Knoxville Ice Bears, and other sporting events in the Knoxville area.
Personal Interests: Dr. Asif is interested in providing medical care for active individuals. He enjoys playing soccer, racquetball, and weight lifting. Outside of medicine, Dr. Asif enjoys cooking and painting.
Family: He is married to Sonia Kuhn Asif who is in residency at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Ophthalmology Program.
