Behavioral Medicine
The Department of Family Medicine, part of the Graduate School of Medicine of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (in conjunction with Cherokee Health Systems, a community behavioral medicine and primary care provider) is offering a one-year fellowship providing advanced training in behavioral medicine.
The fellow will develop clinical skills in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of the majority of behavioral health problems as they present in the primary care setting.
Curriculum
Fellows will have the opportunity to rotate in a variety of clinical settings that include exposure to inpatient adult and geriatric psychiatry, inpatient consultation/liaison, alcohol and drug rehabilitation, community mental health, clinical psychopharmocology, outpatient therapy, and developmental behavioral pediatrics.
Edwin S. Rogers, Ph.D.
Director and Associate Professor
Dr. Edwin Rogers is a native Tennessean. He received his degree in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Varied experiences in private practice include family medicine clinics, an interdisciplinary behavioral medicine practice, and psychotherapy for adult psychiatric inpatient groups. As a faculty member working with the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Rogers combines his interests in professional education, behavioral medicine and the integration of behavioral health services in primary care settings.
Eligibility
Fellows will be graduating or have graduated from an accredited Family Medicine Residency. Fellows will operate at a PGY-4 level and will be under the supervision of faculty during the course of the fellowship.
Application
Interviews are required and are scheduled October through December prior to the application year. Applications are made and interviews arranged through the Department of Family Medicine's fellowship coordinator.
