ACGME General Competencies Outcomes Project

Duties and Responsibilities

The Office of the Dean at the UT Graduate School of Medicine has ultimate responsibility for implementation of a viable program that meets or exceeds ACGME guidelines for its General Competencies Outcome Project . An Institutional Designated Official (DIO) has been given overall responsibility for oversight of this program and for providing timely summative reports to the following: Office of the Dean, UT Graduate School of Medicine; Board of Trustees, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville; Governing Board, University Health System, Inc. and The Executive Committee, UT Hospital.

The Organizational Structure for implementation of the Outcome Project demonstrates that Joint responsibility and oversight for strategic and tactical planning is that of the Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) and The Graduate Medical/Dental Education Committee (traditional termed GMEC). The DIO and the GME Office have immediate responsibility for facilitating functionality of the joint GME and GMEC relationship. As the principle site for resident training, the UT Memorial Hospital relates directly to the Office of GME.

The inter-relations of all components of UT GSM Graduate Medical Education to the Outcome Project are shown on the Organization Chart.
