AGENDA

Course Overview

Nationally, a focus on improving care for the most critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients has come to the forefront.  UT Medical Center has experienced tremendous growth in these populations.  The patients' needs are complex, requiring a cohesive multidisciplinary team that spans the continuum of care from the prehospital setting to assimilation back to the community.

As identified by regional and local performance metrics and outcomes data, there are opportunities to improve identification and early management of neurological and neurosurgical emergencies.  Recent acute ischemic stroke guideline changes have prompted a refinement of systems of care to ensure rapid recognition and transition to the highest level of care.  Tennessee remains a leader in stroke-related mortality, highlighting the need to improve emergent care for patients with neurological or neurosurgical disorders.

This activity will increase learner's knowledge of strategies to manage emergent neurological and neurosurgical disorders by allowing access to regionally and nationally recognized experts.  Current guidelines will be reviewed and participants will have the opportunity to discuss with peers and faculty.
