Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) Provider Course

November 18-19, 2003
UT Conference Center
600 Henley Street
Knoxville, Tennessee

Objectives

The goal of the ACLS Provider's Course is to develop proficiency in ACLS skills. The lectures and case discussions are designed as a review of the material that is to be known before coming to class. The course emphasizes cardiac causes of arrest, particularly heart rhythm abnormalities. Basic Life Support training is not required; however, you will be evaluated on BLS skills.

An AHA/ACLS manual and other pertinent material will be sent to upon receipt of your application and payment. Pre-course study of the ACLS manual is essential. Successful completion of ACLS depends on a minimum score of 84 percent on the written evaluation and proficiency in the evaluation stations within the time allotment. You are responsible for the material in the textbook prior to attending any of the lectures. Although the course lasts for 2 days, past experience indicates that you must come well prepared to complete the program satisfactorily.

At the conclusion of this workshop, the participant will be able to demonstrate techniques of airway management, including utilization of endotracheal intubation skills, initiate advanced life support measures for adults, as well as effectively handle various codes.
