Chronic Health Problems Could Reveal Victimization

Recent studies show that people victimized by abuse, such as rape, childhood physical or sexual abuse or domestic violence, are more likely to suffer chronic ailments and be diagnosed with serious health problems in the future.  While they seek a solution to the immediate problem from their primary care provider, they may not be aware that it is tied to their past abuse.

Victimization, especially over a lifespan, often results in chronic health conditions presented to primary care physicians.  This conference will provide physicians with knowledge needed to recognize many of the health consequences of violence and understand how this underlying cause can affect the physical and mental health of their patients.
