Perinatal and neonatal care has become a major national health concern. The southeast United States experiences some of the highest rates of premature birth, low birthweight infants and infant mortality rates of any area of the U.S. This three-day conference will address the most recent treatments, technologies and innovative care advances for perinatal and neonatal care and features a pre-conference course: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) renewal. Proof of previous NRP certification will be required at registration.
At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to change their method of care by using gained knowledge to
- Identify that premature birth is a major national and regional public health concern that afflicts 10-14% of all births.
- Recognize the signs, symptoms, causes and the most recent strategies to prevent premature birth.
- Understand the societal, moral and ethical issues surrounding the resuscitation of extremely low birthweight infants.
