Substances of Abuse: An Overview
Substance abuse by patients in physician practices often goes undetected. This adversely affects the patients and their families. Recent increases in problems associated with stimulants and opiates in the region make this problem more acute. Providers need more information about the problem to adequately help their patients.

With the goal of improving the quality of healthcare, The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine Department of Continuing Medical and Dental Education activities are offered to enhance the skills and knowledge of physicians, dentists, and other healthcare professionals at the local, state, regional and national levels.
