Course Objectives

Since its accidental discovery in 1952 by Dr. P.I. Branemark, and subsequent introduction to dentistry in the late 1970's and early 1980's, osseointegration has revolutionized how dentists treat patients. It can be safely stated that the endosseous dental implant is the single greatest advance that dentistry has seen in the last century. Patients treated with dental implants are experiencing a boost in their confidence and improvement in the quality of their lives. It is for these reasons that more dentists are incorporating dental implant therapy into their practice as another option for patient care. Thorough case diagnosis and detailed pretreatment planning will help facilitate optimal outcomes that meet patient expectations of treatment results including comfort, function, aesthetics and cleansability. This program will focus on the collaboration between the restorative and surgical team to achieve predictable treatment outcomes.  It will describe the workup process and will address the challenges and barriers that may occur as the entire TEAM navigates through patient treatments. Although the restorative and surgical practices are often in separate locations, the information in this presentation will provide the tools needed to give your patients a one office experience. Multiple clinical cases will be presented.
