Conference Overview
Faced with an aging population, new developments in technology and treatment options, it will be increasingly important for the health care provider to stay up-to-date on the newest developments and trends in the medical community. The Second Annual Medicine Conference will address new developments and trends in relevant areas such as osteoporosis, celiac disease, hypertension and lung cancer among others.
What You Will Learn
At the conclusion of this program, the participants should be able to
- Employ the most current concepts in the management of acute stroke
- Explore new strategies for osteoporosis evaluation and treatment
- Recognize changes in lung cancer screening guidelines
- Apply principles of peripheral neuropathy evaluation
- Evaluate and manage atrial fibrillation
- Develop strategies for enhancing office based end-of- life decisions
- Summarize enhanced motivational interviewing techniques
- Recognize the signs, complications and best treatment options for celiac disease
Who should attend?
This course is designed for primary care physicians. Physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and pharmacists are also welcome to participate.
Conference Attire
We encourage you to be comfortable as we spend two days at this quality education experience. Casual business attire and a light sweater or jacket are suggested.

Printed presentation slides will not be distributed onsite but will be available for download prior to the conference start date. Watch your e-mail inbox as the conference date approaches.

A limited amount of sleeping rooms have been secured at the Knoxville Hilton, located directly across the street from the conference venue. ACPE: 
The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Successful completion of this application-based program will provide a statement for eleven (11.0) live contact hours credit (1.1 CEUs) and will be mailed within 3 weeks following the program. Successful completion includes attending the session, signing the attendance sheet, and completion of the program evaluation form. UAN: 0064-9999-14-007-L01-P
Grievance Policy: A participant, sponsor, faculty member or other individual wanting to file a grievance with respect to any aspect of a program sponsored or co-sponsored by the UTCOP may contact the Associate Dean for Continuing Education in writing. The grievance will be reviewed and a response will be returned within 45 days of receiving the written statement. If not satisfied, an appeal to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy can be made for a second level of review.
CEUs: Non-physicians can obtain continuing education credits by attending activities that award continuing medical education credits to physicians. Each AMA PRA Category 1 credit hour translates into one-tenth of a general CEU. This activity is designated for up to 1.1 CEUs by the University of Tennessee using the national standard that 1 hour of educational instruction is awarded .1 CEU.
