An Update on Selected ASH Topics

This eighth annual conference is an American Society of Hematology (ASH) international conference follow-up and briefing.  This year’s international conference, the 53rd Annual Meeting and Exposition, will be held December 10-13, 2011, in San Diego.

The UT Graduate School of Medicine’s annual update occurs as soon as possible after the ASH conference while allowing time for our featured speakers to develop unique presentations combining their areas of expertise with new information garnered from the ASH presentations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program the participant should be able to summarize current and ongoing study results in patients with hemostasis/thrombosis, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and malignant lymphoma and discuss recent advances in the optimization of therapy for these patients.

Accreditation

The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 
Education Credits

AMA: The University of Tennessee designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA: American Academy of Physician Assistants accepts Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award from organizations accredited by the ACCME.  The AAPA has complete reciprocity with the ACCME.

The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  Successful completion of this knowledge-based program will provide a statement for five (5.0) live contact hours credit (.5 CEUs) and will be mailed within 3 weeks following the program.  Successful completion includes attending the session, signing the attendance sheet, and completion of the program evaluation form.  ACPE Program Number: 0064-9999-12-006-L01-P.  To earn credits from ACPE, participants must attend all sessions. Partial credit is not offered by ACPE. Beginning in 2012, pharmacists must provide their National Association of Boards of Pharmacy e-Profile ID number to obtain credit from ACPE.  Visit www.nabp.net or contact NABP at 847-391-4406.

Grievance Policy
A participant, sponsor, faculty member or other individual wanting to file a grievance with respect to any aspect of a program sponsored or co-sponsored by the UTCOP may contact the Associate Dean for Continuing Education in writing. The grievance will be reviewed and a response will be returned within 45 days of receiving the written statement.  If not satisfied, an appeal to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy can be made for a second level of review. 

CEU: Adhering to guidelines set by the American Medical Association, the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine will issue Certificates of Attendance and CEUs for non-physicians attending this educational activity.  This activity is designated for up to .5 CEUs by the University of Tennessee using the national standard that 1 hour of educational instruction is awarded .1 CEU.

Contact Hours: Professional associations may choose to convert CEUs to contact hours by allowing .1 CEU to equal 1 contact hour.  

Recertification: As an ACCME-approved provider, UT certifies the CME credit offered during this educational activity is acceptable by ANCC, AACN and NCCPA for recertification.
