Biographical Information
Donald M. Bell, CRNA, DNSc, APN is a Clinical Associate Professor and Program Director of the Nurse Anesthesia Concentration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Bell
held a wide variety of clinical, administrative and consultative positions in anesthesia. From 1988 until 1994, he served as Vice-Chief Nurse Anesthetist at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. Since this time, he has been a partner in Bell Anesthesia, PLLC. A frequent guest lecturer and featured speaker, Dr. Bell is listed in Marquis Who's Who in American Nursing, and Marquis Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is a former National Deans List honoree and is urrently a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Kappa Omicron Nu and Phi Mu Alpha national honor societies. Dr. Bell is the immediate past President of the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetists, chair of the AANA Bylaws Committee and an Associate Editor of the AANA Journal. He is a decorated veteran of the US Air Force (Vietnam Era) and is married to the former Beverly Ann Patton, a CRNA owner of Bell Anesthesia, PLLC.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Bell is a diploma graduate of Ft. Sanders Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and holds a certificate in Nurse Anesthesia from Charleston Area Medical Center. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from West Virginia State University, a Master of Science (MS) in
Health Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) from the Gooding Institute in Panama City, Florida, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and a Doctor of Nursing Science (DNSc) from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center,
Memphis.
