Biography
Meixiang Yu, Ph.D joined
the Cancer Imaging and Tracer Development Program (CITDP) at the
University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville
in May 2005 as an Associate Professor and PET Radiochemist. Dr.
Yu obtained his BS and PhD degree from Peking University in Beijing
of PR China in 1990 and 1996 respectively. He received radiochemistry
training at the China Institute of Atomic Energy for his Masters
Degree.
Dr. Yu collaborated with
Jyrki Kuikka and Kim Bergström at Kuopio University Hospital
in Finland during his post doctoral training. He worked with Juhani
Knuuti and Kjell Någren as a senior radiochemistry researcher
at the Turku PET Center and took part in international cooperation
with Christer Halldin at the Karolinska Institute Sweden . Dr. Yu
moved to Boston , Massachusetts in 2001 to continue his research
at the Experimental PET Imaging Research Laboratory with Anna-Liisa
Brownell. He was an instructor and faculty member at Harvard Medical
School and Massachusetts General Hospital
Dr. Yu has over ten years
working experience in the development of PET/SPECT tracers. He serves
as a visiting scientist for Harvard Medical School. His research
work in CITDP will be mainly the development and application of
novel target biomarkers for cancer therapy response prediction and
evaluation by in vivo Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
Imaging. Currently, he is collaborating on research projects in
neurology and cardiology at the UT Medical Center.
