Molecular Imaging and Translational Research Program

Program Objectives

  • To establish a world-class molecular imaging center to perform highly competitive oncology translational research program capable of receiving NCI funded project and program grants
  • To expand and develop a clinical PET/CT oncology program to provide imaging service to the medical center and extended communities
  • To develop, evaluate, and validate the highest performance PET/CT tomograph and related methodology
  • To develop and validate the use of specific PET radiotracers in man such as for hypoxia, proliferation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and hormone receptors
  • To establish an SNM-accredited teaching and training center at the University of Tennessee with industrial support
